As Work Zone Awareness Week arrives, it’s a good time to think about the 92 ARDOT workers who have been killed while working over the past 80 years. A ceremony today at the Fallen Workers Memorial focused on what is being done to make this work safer for the men and women who make our roads better. Fines for violations in work zones are now double. New camera systems are being used by the Arkansas highway police, and flashing green lights have been added to work vehicles. When you are traveling, please slow down as you approach a work zone. Let’s try to never again have to add the name of a deceased worker to the memorial.
